Dieter Rexroth

Prof. Dr. Dieter Rexroth was a musicological authority. In him we have lost a personality who always had the entire history of music in his sights, far removed from any epochal boundaries. In his thinking and in his interpretations, Dieter Rexroth knew how to convincingly connect the past and the present – as he did in his texts and with his inspiring and groundbreaking introductory lectures, which always placed the programme of the Herrenchiemsee Festival in a great historical context as a matter of course. We look back with gratitude on these many years of valuable collaboration.
