Anna Korondi

Anna Korondi, soprano

Anna Korondi was born in Budapest. She started her vocal studies in Budapest and continued with MagaretheBence at the conservatory Vienna, where she graduated with distinction in 1993. Winning the renowned ARD music-competition in 1996, launched her international career.

Subsequent to her studies she worked as a member of the ensemble at the KomischeOper Berlin (1993 – 1997), followed by an engagement at the Bonn Opera (1997 – 1999), where she sang all the important roles of the lyric repertoire.

In 2000 she made her internationally acclaimed debut at the BayerischeStaatsoper where she stared in the title-role of BernardaAlbasHaus, AribertReimann (ZubinMetha / Harry Kupfer). At the Salzburg Festival 2001 she made her debut as Adele in a new production of  DieFledermaus (Marc Minkowski / Hans Neuenfels).

Today the versatile soprano, whose varied repertoire ranges from baroque to modern, regularly appears as a guest with the major European orchestras and festivals and works with conductors such as Howard Arman, FransBrüggen, Adam Fischer, Enoch zu Guttenberg, Philippe Herreweghe,YakovKreizberg, Erwin Ortner, EliahuInbal, Marcello Viotti, NikolausHarnoncourt and HelmuthRilling.

Anna Korondi is also in great demand as a Lied – singer. Her performances, for example at the Kissinger Sommer and in cities like Rome, Florence or Torino are proof of her intimate knowledge of the German art song.

Recent projects led her to the KomischeOper Berlin, she embarked in a tour to Hong Kong to perform in LustigeWitwe, in 2004 she debuted as Sophie in Rosenkavalier and also appeared for the first time on the stage of BayreutherFestspiele as Blumenmädchen in Parsifal.

Current projects include a series of R.Strauss´ Arabella at the BayerischeStaatsoper where she is heard as Zdenka, concerts with the Royal Philharmonic of Flanders under the baton of Philippe  Herreweghe, the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig (Howard Arman), the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (Howard Arman) and various appearances with Maestro Enoch zu Guttenberg. In the summer of 2006 she also returned to the BayreutherFestspiele.

Numerous radio, television and CD productions (TELDEC, CARLTON CLASSICS, FARAO) document her career. Recently she appeared on recordings of Missasolemnis von Franz Schubert (RIAS Kammerchor / Philippe Herreweghe) and Bach´s St. Matthew´s Passion (ChorgemeinschaftNeubeuern / Enoch zu Guttenberg)
